Instagram adds an Edits assistant for Reel stats and ideas

Instagram’s Edits assistant can analyze account performance and suggest what to make next. The September 30 rollout starts in the US, with a daily limit on free prompts.

What changed

Instagram announced an AI assistant in Edits, its video-creation app, on September 30. The rollout starts in the US. The announcement says it can read account performance such as views, retention, likes and shares, identify patterns, and suggest concepts and audio that fit a creator’s audience. Its own example screenshots show a profile review and audience-specific Reel ideas.

Why it matters

The useful shift is from a generic list of hooks to questions about your own audience: what worked this month, how two Reels compare, or what to try next. It can give creators a starting point for decisions rather than replacing those decisions. If a Reel flopped, an account-aware assistant may help investigate the numbers, but it cannot prove why every viewer did or did not watch.

Reality Check

Free use has a daily prompt limit; Instagram says more usage will come through Meta One. We have not verified access or tested the assistant on FreeStack’s account. Our Short uses Instagram’s official UI-example screenshots, not our stats or a live product demo. This is an analysis and ideas assistant, not an automatic video editor or a guarantee of viral views. The announcement is US-first; do not assume the feature is available on your account elsewhere.
